On Friday, November 2nd, Dr. Justin Brown and Dr. Kristen Hayman presented at the 2018 ISU James D. McKean Swine Disease Conference. Dr. Justin Brown presented the results of a study completed by SMEC titled “Evaluation of a Commercial PEDV Vaccine in Reducing Duration of Viral Shedding in Gilts.” This study evaluated if vaccination with a killed vaccine for porcine epidemic diarrhea virus either before or after challenge with PEDV shortened the duration of viral shedding in feces.
Dr. Kristen Hayman presented on a study entitled ‘Effects of synthetically produced pheromone product (Boar Saliva Analog) on commercial sow reproductive performance.’ This project was the main research focus of former SMECtern Michael Rhode (Iowa State, VM3).”
