SMEC interns will join a team of fellow veterinary and graduate students, in Ames, Iowa or Audubon, Iowa, who are involved with conducting research on multiple projects designed around both live animal work and clinical skills, including their own research project. SMEC interns will work directly with the SMEC Faculty and be presented opportunities to work with the Swine Intensive Studies Laboratory at ISU CVM, complete field trial work on applied pharmacology, perform clinical surveillance of populations, and apply emerging communications technology to disseminate best practices. Participants will receive training in modern, commercial swine facilities at AMVC and demonstrate a working knowledge of swine production systems.
