Dr. Jay Harmon, Interim Director of the Iowa Pork Industry Center conducted a Swine Ventilation Training Workshop for the SMEC 478A: Swine Production Management and Consultation rotation, the Iowa State University Student American Association of Swine Veterinarians (AASV) Chapter, and AMVC. The ventilation training featured classroom learning of how the pig and the environment interact and reviewing important ventilation components and how they function such as fans, inlets, and controllers. The classroom training was followed by hands on exercises that took place in the ventilation training trailer. This trailer is designed to mimic the ventilation systems in a swine barn and assist participants on how the systems function and troubleshoot any issues.
