Last week, Drs. Alex Ramirez and Anna Forseth visited an Iowa State undergraduate animal science class. They presented a short lecture in the morning and then demonstrated a swine necropsy. Throughout the necropsy, they reviewed basic anatomy, common swine illnesses, knife handling safety, and how to properly collect fresh and fixed samples. After the necropsy was complete, students had the opportunity to put on a pair of gloves and feel various tissues.
